Russian Federation Council member says elections in Armenia were held in accordance with the country’s laws

YREVAN, JUNE 21, ARMENPRESS. Early parliamentary elections in Armenia were conducted in accordance with the country’s national law and international standards, and minor violations recorded by observers could not affect the voting results, said Viktor Smirnov, member of the Council of the Russian Federation, reports TASS.
“The early parliamentary elections in Armenia were conducted in accordance with the country’s national law and international standards. That the minor violations recorded by the international observers were of a technical nature and, without a doubt, could not affect the results of the vote, ”he said.
Mr Smirnov said he personally visited 17 polling stations in Armenia on election day. He said Russian senators also met with officials from the Central Election Commission, representatives of several political parties and blocs.
“The professionalism of the District Election Commissions and the Central Election Commission was demonstrated on election day. We attended an organized work where we visited, the electoral legislation of the Republic was correctly applied ”, said Smirnov.
The Russian official added that the polling stations, where they visited, also maintained anti-coronavirus rules.
