Valentina Matvienko, Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, visited the city of Kogalym in the Yugra region. During this working visit, President Matvienko, together with Vladimir Yakushev, Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Urals Federal District, Vagit Alekperov, Chairman of PJSC LUKOIL, and Natalya Komarova, Governor of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District – Yugra, have explored the issues of society. operations in Yugra.

President Matvienko studied the program of creating social infrastructure and improving the quality of life of the local population. With the support of LUKOIL, dozens of significant objects have been built in Yugra, especially in the city of Kogalym: Galaktika sports and cultural complex including a greenhouse, an oceanarium and a water park, a branch of the Maly State Academic Theater, a cultural and exhibition center of the Russian Museum, a tennis court, etc. Construction of an education center (a branch of Ecole Polytechnique University) and a new hotel is underway. The construction sites of a regional winter sports center and a music school are in preparation.

Valentina Matvienko examined the facilities built with the support of LUKOIL, participated in the opening of a new exhibition at the cultural center of the Russian Museum and visited the Cathedral of Saint Martyr Tatiana, consecrated in September 2018 by His Holiness the Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill.

Lecturer Matvienko got an overview of the project to introduce LUKOIL’s own energy efficient technologies in oil and gas production at a subsidiary of LUKOIL which manufactures AC electronic motors for electric centrifugal pumps which are supplied both to the facilities of LUKOIL and other Russian and foreign companies.

​Valentina Matvienko presented the awards of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation to the employees of LUKOIL-Zapadnaya Sibir LLC and Kogalym City Hospital for their merits in developing socially significant facilities in Kogalym, their outstanding professional skills and their dedicated work of many years in the development of a regional fuel and power complex and the public health.
